The inception of a crazy idea

This is the beginnings of a dream that one day may become a reality.

The idea: To cycle from the western most point in Australia to the easternmost.

That means from Steep Point in WA to Cape Byron in NSW via the arid center of Australia staying off sealed roads using some of the most iconic and remote desert tracks.

Many people have cycled in these remote areas with great success often unsupported and alone. No one, it seems, has actually linked up the west and east coasts through the middle in a more or less direct line. This could be a first acheivment. If it happens...

The intended route will travel via Meekathara, Wiluna, the Gunbarrel highway to Yulara, Finke, the Simpson Desert, Birdsville, Innamincka, Cameron Corner, Hungerford, Goodooga and Stanthorpe. Approximately 5700kms and 65 days of constant riding.

Crazy? You bet!
